What has the council done RECENTLY

• Parent Information Night: An annual event to provide information on various kindergarten options in Vancouver to parents of pre-school aged children
• Fundraising: Each year we raise money for UBC Childcare! Thanks to the support of our families, we will be making this a regular fundraising activity in the future.
• Centre Improvements funded by the council:
  • A new music room for visiting and borrowing in the administration building.
  • Toy gardening tools and other toys shared by the centres.
  • Portable playground equipment to help centers through the drawn-out playground upgrade period.
  • Boardmaker software, used by Centre staff to create instructional materials.
• Advocacy: The council carried out extensive advocacy activities this year, both within UBC where were were instrumental in obtaining a commitment to add 80 daycare spaces in the coming year. Please go to the advocacy page to read more.
• Web site: Our new Council website was designed, populated and released during the summer.
• Centre listserv email lists: The council coordinated the creation of a Centre-wide conact list, which greatly simplifies communication.
